Creative Nature has been named as the winner of the On-The-Go snack bars category for their Raw Cacao energy flapjack bar which is free from gluten, dairy, wheat, soya and peanuts. The team at UK ‘free from’ food producer Creative Nature has scooped a prestigious Good Nutrition Award for one of their snack bars.
Julianne Ponan, CEO of Creative Nature, said: “To achieve this win and receive the quality mark which goes with it, is very special for us. It shows consumers that they are getting a product which is tasty, has nutritional value and is suitable for people with certain allergies and food intolerance.
“It’s only when you have difficulties with eating certain foods that you truly appreciate the ability to just ‘grab a snack’ and that’s what Creative Nature is all about – helping people eat well at home or on the move.”
The Healthy Diet Good Nutrition Awards 2018 showcase the best healthy foods and drinks and winners are awarded a quality mark of health.
The ‘mark’ allows consumers to make better shopping choices, highlights key benefits of products including ‘best for heart health’, ‘diabetic-friendly’ or ‘low cholesterol’. The awards also show case ‘best value’. Categories include products for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, store cupboard products and drinks.
Creative Nature was re-shaped by Julianne into a food brand after taking over a failing company. She changed direction completely to fulfil her dream of creating a ‘free from’ food brand which helped people like her.
Julianne is – in her words – allergic to everything. She cannot eat or come into contact with any nuts, chickpeas, lentils, lots of perfumes and even oils used in face creams. Her allergies are so bad she has to have someone with her if she walking through a duty free area in an airport and she ended up in hospital after hugging her father who was wearing a certain aftershave.
“Eating on the go was always an issue for me,” Julianne said. “I just couldn’t do it, I couldn’t risk it. Everything had to be pre-planned and prepared which makes so much of life difficult for me and those around me. This was a huge motivation behind Creative Nature and explains why this award is so important for me personally and my hard-working team.”
The judges for Healthy Diet Good Nutrition Awards 2018 were practising GP Dr Pixie McKenna, known for her tv appearances on Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodes and Food Hospital; Rosemary Conley CBE, one of the UK’s leading diet and fitness experts with more than 40 years’ experience; sponsor Nutracheck’s nutritionist Emma Clarke and registered dietitian, nutrition consultant and writer Juliette Kellow.
This award comes just weeks after Creative Nature was named the UK’s Small Business of the Year 2018 by the FSB.
